Annual Sports Meet 2018

Annual Sports Meet 2018

Excelling in both athletics and academics have always been the passion of a TCSI citizen. Therefore, The City School International hosted the 2018 Annual Sports Day at the Etisalat Academy on the 6th of February for the primary school and on the 7th of February for the secondary school.

The sports day commenced with the recitation of the verses from the Holy Quran and their translations. The students took the position on the tracks in their respective houses symbolizing unity and team spirit, following which they walked past in the glory of sports and sportsmanship. Then, following the tradition the ceremonial lighting of the torch proceeded, where the house captains ran the perimeter of the ground. The oath taken by the sports captain filled the air with pride and grandeur, as every individual pledged to play for the glory of sports and team spirit. This occasion was graced by the honorable presence of the UAE’s teams’ captain Mr Bakhit Saad Mubarak in the football world cup. Followed by the welcome address of the school’s torchbearer Mr. Craig Shipton, who inspired the students to play a fair game and wished all the young aspiring athletes a very good luck.

At TCSI, the sports day is not just a nomenclature that serves as a day where students play sports but rather a day where they strive, collaborate and engender a sense of sportsmanship and accomplishment. Various games were organized by the P.E teachers which included football, basketball, handball and sprinting. Corresponding courts were assigned to each sport where students actively participated

The audiences were kept at the edge as the competition got tougher and the tension built. For the further entertainment of the audiences, refreshments were provided by the students of Grade 10, who held a ‘Bakesale’. A third of the sales money was given to charity.

Progressively, the winning teams were given trophies in the Award Ceremony by the School Principal. And with that, a great fun-filled day came to a triumphant end.
