Arabic Week

Arabic Week in TCSI

Arabic, one of the world’s official languages and one of the most widely spoken languages in the world, is also known as the language of eloquence, statement and fine vocabulary.

In a recent report, the United Nations estimates that Arabic is the mother tongue of more than 290 million people in the world, most of them in the Arab world. 130 million people speak the second language, and the number of speakers is expected to reach 647 million by 2050. Arabic is the fourth most widely spoken language in the world after English, French, and Spanish. It is one of the few Semitic languages that have survived to this day. Semitic languages are spoken by most of the peoples of the Middle East, North and East Africa, and Tigrinya.

The citizens of  TCSI celebrated Arabic week embracing the rich culture of Arab nations. Several activities were organised and students actively participated in all those. FS students wrote and coloured the Arabic alphabet and recited Arabic poems. Arab students visited the classes and gave information in Arabic about the UAE’s heritage and cultures, such as Sheikh Zayed Mosque and UAE map. 9th graders visited the classrooms and provided information about the United Arab Emirates in Arabic. Moreover, Show and Tell competition was held for students of Years 1, 2 and 3. They talked about the toys and some things they brought from home. What added spice to the celebration was the Arabic Debate competition. Students expressed their substantial ideas in a convincing manner using the language.

The celebration ended with a special assembly that highlighted the awarding of certificates to the participants and the winners.
