Admission Procedure

Admissions to classes depend upon vacancies. We do give preference to siblings of the school from the waiting
list. Your child’s name is placed on the waiting list upon payment of non-refundable registration
fee
AED 500.
There is no entrance test but an age related assessment at the FS level. For
all other classes, there may be an age appropriate placement test at the discretion of the school.

School Tours:

To schedule a tour, please contact the School on 04-2899722 to book a convenient date. Visiting hours
for school is between 8.30am to 3.30pm Sunday to Thursday. Due to congestion of traffic, it is best to avoid
dispersal timings of 12.20pm to 12:40pm and 2.10pm to 2.40pm. Please note that AED 500/- registration
fee is non-refundable and non-adjustable amount and it does not guarantee the admission.

Steps to follow for Admission:

  • Application form available at school must be filled, and a non-refundable payment of AED 500
    registration fee is submitted to the accounts office.
  • Once the application is submitted with the payment, the date and time of assessment will be
    communicated through email/sms.
  • Assuming successful assessment and as per the seat availability in the required Year group the
    child is offered a place.
  • Upon confirmation of admission, parents are required to submit the listed documents to the Admissions
    Office

Documents for Admission:

  • 1 copy of Valid Residence Visa and Passport for Student’s & Parent’s.
  • Original Emirates ID of Student and Parent, to scan in front of official.
  • Copy of Emirates ID of Student and both Parent’s
  • 5 passport-size photographs of the student.
  • 1 copy of the student’s Birth Certificate.
  • 1 copy of the Student’s Vaccination Card.
  • 1 copy of the original mark sheet of the last examination passed at the previous school.
  • Original Transfer Certificate for other Emirate transfer. (Duly attested by the educational
    authority concerned).
  • In the case of overseas transfer, the Original School Leaving Certificate should also be duly
    attested by:    

    • Ministry of Education of the country.
    • Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the country from which migrating.
    • UAE Embassy in the country from which migrating.
    • Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dubai

(Attestation is not required for UK, US, Canada, Australia and Europe)

Entrance Exam

TCSI is truly an international institution and all children are welcome to apply, regardless of nationality,
ethnicity or religion.
Each child must take an age appropriate placement test to ensure that the he/she is rightly placed &
supported for the high quality education on offer at TCSI.
Offer of a place is dependant on the availability of space and an interview with the child. Parent should
provide the most recent copy of their child’s school report, when called for a placement.

Please Note

Admission will be confirmed only on submission of all the documents to the School and will be subject
to Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) approval.

HOW TO APPLY

Welcome to TCSI’s Admissions page.

TCSI welcome applications throughout the year. However, there is limited seat availability so we advise you to apply as early as you can. When you are ready, follow the instructions below.

Step 1 – Applying online

Before applying:

  • Check this list to see which year group is correct for your child, based on their date of birth.
  • Familiarise yourself with the relevant school fees.

Step 2 – Finalising the application

  • After filling the online application form. You will receive an email with further instructions.
  • All the required documents can be uploaded to the reply email.
  • You will be required to pay a non-refundable Registration fee of AED 500, which must be paid before the admission test/interview.

Step 3 – Securing a Place

  • Once you have added all the required details for your child(ren) and paid the registration fee, an admission test/interview will be scheduled depending on availability. For more information on assessments click here.
  • You will be notified of the outcome of the assessment shortly afterwards. Successful applicants will receive a formal offer email valid for 1 week from receipt. If no places are available at the time, you will be placed on a waiting list and notified once a place becomes available.
  • To secure the offered seat, you will be required to pay the Non-Refundable Admission Fee of AED 1000.

AGE CUT OFF

Our age cut off table is based on KHDA approved cut off dates and is the age/year group at which we strongly recommend your children to be placed. Age-appropriate assessments are carried out to assess suitability for a challenging curriculum and ability to integrate with existing cohorts.

Please note the correct year group/date of birth information when completing the application form.

Age requirements for NEW students enrolling in FS1, FS2, Year 1 and Year 2 according to UAE Ministry of Education Resolution no (24) changed from the start of the 2021-2022 academic year in September 2021. The same age chart will be followed for the New Academic Year until any new notification from the authorities is received.

*For Year 3 and above the required year group will be based on your child’s transfer/leaving certificate from their previous school.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
  • Copy of child’s passport
  • Copy of child’s residence visa – when available
  • Copy of child’s birth certificate
  • Copy of child’s Emirates ID card (front and back) – when available
  • Copies of both parents’ passports in colour
  • Copies of both parents’ visas – when available
  • Copy of both parents’ Emirates ID cards (front and back) – when available
  • Recent passport size photograph of your child
  • Copy of child’s latest school/nursery report; previous 2 years or three years reports if applying for secondary school.
  • Learning support documentation (if applicable)
  • If you are transferring from another The City School International, the registration and admission fee will not be charged.
  • Leaving Letter/Certificate from current school if coming from outside of Dubai (click here for our KHDA Guidelines)

ASSESSMENT

Before a place can be offered the applicant will be assessed. These assessments vary according to the age of the child.

Successful applicants will be notified by email that a place has been offered. The offer is valid for 1 week from receipt. In all cases the parent or guardian will be notified of the outcome of the assessment by email.

  • Each applicant must have the necessary academic qualifications, fulfill the Schools’ admissions criteria and pass the Schools’ assessment process.
  • FS1 and FS2: informal one to one interview/play based observational assessments (we look at communication, behaviour, interaction and the ability of the child to follow instructions)
  • Years 1-2: written assessment – appropriate to the age of the child.
  • Years 3-10: written admission test
  • Years 11-13*: previous results, admission test and individual student interview
