At TCSI, we believe that education is not just about imparting knowledge, but also about nurturing the love of learning, fostering global citizenship, promoting innovation, instilling compassion and developing leadership qualities. Our curriculum is designed to align with our school’s vision, mission and core values. It aims to provide a safe and inclusive environment where students can thrive and reach their full potential.
Our core values serve as the guiding principles for our curriculum and shape the learning experiences we offer to our students.
By incorporating national and international standards, we ensure that our students meet clear goals and are well-prepared for future educational and career opportunities.
The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum at TCSI is designed to provide a nurturing and stimulating learning environment for our youngest learners. We recognise the crucial role that early childhood education plays in a child’s development, and our curriculum is tailored to meet their unique needs. The EYFS curriculum focuses on seven areas of learning, fostering holistic growth and laying the foundation for future success.
Literacy:
The literacy area of learning is designed to develop early reading and writing skills. We provide a rich language environment where children are exposed to a variety of stories, rhymes and vocabulary-building activities. Through engaging activities and play, children develop their phonics awareness, comprehension and expressive language skills.
Communication & Language:
Communication and language development is a fundamental aspect of the EYFS curriculum. We provide ample opportunities for children to develop their listening and speaking skills. Through interactive conversations, group activities and language-rich experiences, children enhance their vocabulary, communication skills and confidence in expressing themselves.
Personal, Social & Emotional Development:
Personal, social and emotional development forms the basis for building positive relationships, self-confidence and well-being. We create a nurturing environment that promotes self-awareness, self-regulation and empathy. Children develop their social skills, learn to manage their feelings and develop a positive sense of self through a range of activities and experiences.
Mathematical Development:
Mathematical development in the EYFS curriculum focuses on building a strong foundation in numeracy skills. Children engage in hands-on activities that promote counting, number recognition, pattern recognition, shape and space exploration and problem-solving. Through play-based and practical experiences, children develop a curiosity for numbers and mathematical concepts.
Understanding the World:
Understanding the world area of learning encourages children to explore and make sense of their environment. We provide opportunities for children to develop their knowledge and understanding of the natural world, technology, people and communities. Through investigations, first-hand experiences and discussions, children develop critical thinking skills and a sense of curiosity about the world around them.
Expressive Arts & Design:
Expressive arts and design foster children’s creativity, imagination and self-expression. We offer a range of activities in music, drama, dance and visual arts that encourage children to explore different materials, experiment with various forms of expression and develop their artistic skills. Through creative experiences, children develop their confidence, aesthetic sense and ability to express themselves in different ways.
Physical Development:
Physical development focuses on promoting gross motor and fine motor skills. We provide ample opportunities for children to engage in active play, develop coordination, control and balance. Fine motor skills are developed through activities that strengthen hand-eye coordination, dexterity and manipulation. Children also learn about the importance of a healthy lifestyle, self-care and personal hygiene.
Additional Subjects:
In addition to the core areas of learning, children in the EYFS curriculum are also introduced to the Arabic language and physical education (PE). These subjects provide a well-rounded educational experience and support the development of language skills and physical fitness.
