Swiss Emrati Fution Project.

The City School International students STREAM projects at the Dubai Government Achievement Exhibition

Over the course of the 2017-2018 academic year the students of that’s guiding principals are Geography, History, Tolerance and Creativity. The project was titled the Emirati-Swiss fusion project and was a partnership between the Embassy of Switzerland and The City School International Dubai.
The overarching idea of the Emirati-Swiss fusion project was to learn about each culture and define how there are similarities and unique perspectives in both the UAE and Switzerland. Over the course of the year students learnt about the history and geography of Switzerland, its economy and relations with the UAE as well as religious tolerance practiced in both countries. An important and defining part of the project was the unique and innovative way Islamic Studies lessons were incorporated into the project.
It was this creativity by the Islamic department with the support of the Art and Humanities departments that caught the attention of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Prime Minister of the UAE, Vice President of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
The General Secretariat of the Executive Council of Dubai, the ultimate government body that makes decisions for the Emirate of Dubai, recently selected our student’s unique and innovative STREAM projects to display at the Executive Council of Dubai’s marquee at the Dubai International Government Achievement Exhibition at the Dubai World Trade Centre. Our school was 1 of 3 private schools in Dubai to be part of the exhibition representing the Dubai Government.
The three students who showcased their STREAM projects were Muhammed Zaki ul Hassan, Abdul Rafay Shaheen, and Muhammad Aaiz Kashif. They had the honour of presenting to an array of foreign dignitaries as well as H.H Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, H.H Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai, Major General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director General, GDRFA Dubai, Major General Dr Ahmed Al Mansoori, Dubai Police, H.E Omar Bin Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence and H.E Abdulla Mohammed Al Basti, Secretary General of the Executive Council of Dubai to name but a few of the dignitaries that visited and spoke in detail about our students projects and their schooling.
To add to the prestige our students had gained they were also interviewed by the Khaleej Times newspaper and quizzed about their STREAM projects.
It was an honour for our students and their families as well as our faculty who worked with great passion and commitment in turning the Emirati-Swiss fusion project into an outstanding success for the entire school.
A great deal of gratitude goes to Ms. Sadia Obaid, Head of Islamic Studies, Ms. Qurrat ul Aien Faisal, Head of Secondary Art, Ms. Bindu Anil, Head of ICT, Ms. Mussart and Ms. Jean (ICT), Ms. Naghma and Ms. Nasreen (Islamic Studies) Ms. Hana, Ms. Zakir, Ms. Sabina (Humanities) and Ms. Maryam (Head of Art KS1 and Humanities) for conceptualising and supporting our students in their endeavours with this project.
